The International Tolerance Project: Promoting Dialogue Through Design

TOLERANCE is an international traveling poster exhibition conceived and organized by renowned designer, Mirko Ilić, and co-produced with Salt Lake City’s Dallas Graham, founder of the Red Fred Project. The posters you will encounter were created by designers from across the globe, in their language and dealing with topics of tolerance they care about. So far the show has traveled to Slovenia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Spain, Washington, Holland, California, Turkey and the Dominican Republic, Ukraine, and Moldova. Among others, next stops include Austria, Croatia, Hungary, and South Africa.

“The initial idea of this exhibition was to invite well-known graphic designers to create posters based on their understanding of tolerance in their mother tongue. One of the conditions was that the exhibition is placed in a public space, among the citizens, not in art galleries. The purpose of the exhibition is not only displaying posters but in gathering and approaching people. Artists are the ones who promote tolerance and peace, and facilitate the reconciliation process. The  Tolerance traveling poster show features prominent designers from around the world who have created a poster with the word Tolerance in their language.”
