Days of ’47 KUTV Pops Concert
Days of ’47 KUTV Pops Concert
Presented by Choral Arts Society of Utah at Abravanel Hall
Sterling Poulson, music director and conductor of the Days of ’47 KUTV Pops concert since 1997, invites you to join the Choral Arts Society of Utah, Salt Lake Symphony and the Clark Planetarium for two great nights of fabulous music and historical video celebrating the 1969 landing of the first men on the moon.
The 100-voice choir and orchestra will wind back the clock, performing hits from the late 60s as well as inspirational music depicting the courage of the pioneer astronauts who, with minimal technology compared to what we have today achieved a feat that propelled us to a new level of space travel and scientific discovery. Video productions by the Clark Planetarium will be accompanied by live music from the choir and orchestra as we watch and remember one of the greatest pioneering achievements of the 20th century.
Now in its 43rd Season, the Salt Lake Symphony is an orchestra that means business, that of bringing high quality symphonic performances to music lovers of the Salt Lake Valley and the State of Utah. Dr. Robert Baldwin is thrilled to begin his 14th season as music director of this outstanding ensemble of volunteer musicians. Volunteers, yes, but those who play with an amateur’s enthusiasm at a professional level of commitment. Patrons often remark at how enjoyable and exciting their concerts are. Whether it’s beloved classics by Beethoven, energetic favorites by Stravinsky or a brand-new work, written especially for this orchestra, you are in for a treat! Discover their passion for music. It will soon become your passion as well!
Clark Planetarium’s mission is to create and present enlightening experiences that inspire wonder in learning about space and science and to promote greater public awareness of the science in our daily lives. For more than 50 years, Clark Planetarium, formerly the Hansen Planetarium, has been Salt Lake’s go-to destination for visitors of all ages who want to discover and learn about space and science. We engage audiences inside our walls and across the State of Utah in the creative process that is science through educational outreach, hands-on exhibits, on-site programming, and our IMAX and dome theatres.
