Pride Story Garden

Pride Story Garden

Presented by Salt Lake City Public Library at Salt Lake City Public Library Main Branch

Exhibit by Pride Festival o Exhibit runs from June 1st – June 17th 2022.

Utah Pride Story Garden
In 2021, the Utah Pride Center pivoted away from the annual parade and festival, instead creating a uniquely-Utah experience that contained 20 outdoor displays. This new format educated attendees on several facets of the history and stories of Utah’s LGBTQ+ community while remaining safely distanced. As we begin to figure out the new normal, we are excited to welcome this exhibit back for Pride Week!

This re-envisioned version of the exhibit will be on display at the Salt Lake City Public Library, welcoming LGBTQ+ people and Allies to learn more about our community and to engage in the stories that led us to where we are today. The 2022 experience will feature highlights from several of the displays, including Utah Queer History, Transcending Gender, LGBTQ+ Civil Rights Timeline, Drag Queendom and Kingdom, and LGBTQ+ Around the World.

Do you know what it means to be demisexual? Do you know the first country to legalize same-sex marriage? Do you know the meanings of the original eight colors of the rainbow flag? Learn this and so much more at the Utah Pride Story Garden!
