ASCENT marks a monumental moment in the Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company’s history as we conclude our 60th Anniversary with a thrilling program featuring two world premieres and the revival of a classic piece from our recent repertoire. The first world premiere, choreographed by Charlotte Boye-Christensen, former Company Artistic Director, showcases her dynamic style and inventive approach to dance-making. This work exemplifies her commitment to pushing the boundaries of what dance can be and is sure to captivate audiences. Artistic Director Daniel Charon’s world premiere features original score by the Salt Lake Electric Ensemble performed live. This marks Charon’s third collaboration with the group creating an electrifying experience. “Look Who’s Coming to Dinner” (2018) by Stefanie Batten Bland, which made its Company debut rounds this enticing program.in 2021. This theatrical dance work pays tribute to the trailblazers who fought for acceptance in love and life. Set around a transformative dinner
setting, the performers excavate universal traumas through imagery and ritual as they seek a seat at the table.
